Crucial M550

Crucial is a global brand of Micron Technology, Inc., one of the largest memory and flash storage manufacturers in the world. They make computer memory upgrades (DRAM) and solid state drives (SSDs), and offer more than 250,000 upgrades for over 50,000 systems. They have a reputation for quality and their SSD’s are well regarded.

Today we will be looking at Crucial’s M550 256 Gb SSD. Offing speeds up to 550 MB/s read and 500 MB/s write is quite a step up from their previous offering, the M500. The M500 was a staple in the SSD market and with good reason, it was fast and reliable. Crucial has taken the M500 and upgrade the controller to the new Marvell 88SS9189. Also new is the Micron 64Gb 20nm (MLC) Flash. This is certainly interesting. Let us find out if the M550 is a worthy successor.

PowerColor Devil Radeon 270X

With a name like Devil, you certainly would expect any product branded with the name to instill fear in it's enemies. There is little doubt that is the reason that PowerColor has chosen to use the name on it's unique line of graphics cards. Indeed, their Devil 13 line of dual GPU graphics cards are legendary. PowerColor chose to expand the line into the last generation Radeon 7870, bringing many of the same features to a more affordable package. When the the Radeon 7870 was revamped into the R9 270X, The Devil went with it.

Vantec 7-Port Hub

Before USB, there were literally dozens of different standards for connecting all the varied devices to a PC. Com, parallel, external SCSI, and PS/2 ports were needed to connect things like printers, scanners, network adapters, external drives, keyboards, and mice. UBS eliminated the need for all those various standards for one high speed universal connection. Now almost every imaginable device that can connect to a PC uses USB. As the number USB enabled devices grew, so did another issue, there was often not enough USB connectors on a computer to connect everything at once. The USB hub was born, but the was still another issue that needs to be resolved, limited charging power. Vantec offers a solution to that, their 7-Port USB 3.0 Hub + 2-Port Smart Charging adapter which we will be looking at today.

Logitech G502

The computer mouse is something that’s been around since the computer itself basically. The simple computer mouse evolved from a trackball with a single button to laser mice with multitudes of buttons, adjustable DPI, scroll wheels, LCD screens and more. The mouse we’ve got today from our good friends over at Logitech falls into the latter category. Enter the Logitech G502 Proteus Core. The Logitech G502 has 5 buttons, an unlockable scroll wheel (more on that later), adjustable DPI, adjustable weights and more.
