Content and Packaging
The PC 363D comes in a black packaging. In front you can see a photo of the headset and the 2-year warranty that comes with it. At the back you can read the features of the headset.
Inside the headset and accessories are neatly packed in a plastic shell.
A quick start guide and CD driver installer are also included.
Here's the 3D G4ME 1 adapter and a USB cable extender.
Then here's the Sennheiser PC 363D Gaming Headset.
The plastic headband has a neat Sennheiser branding on it.
Beneath the headband is a cushion. I have to say the padding is very soft and comfortable.
Here's a look at the left can with the microphone. The microphone slides up and down. The microphone is automatically turned on when you slide it down and goes off when you slide it up.
On the right can is a built-in volume control knob which I personally like. If your keyboard doesn't have dedicated media keys, this knob will surely be very useful.
The velour pads are very soft, comfortable and breathable. Even when it is new, it doesn't feel hot around the ears.
The PC 363D comes with two 3.5mm audio jacks, one for the headphones and the other for the microphone which you can plug directly to any typical audio port if you don't like to use the 3D G4ME 1 adapter.

3D G4ME 1 Dolby 7.1 Digital Surround Sound Software
Installing the 3D G4ME 1 7.1 Digital Surround Sound is very easy. You can use the CD installer or download the latest version at the Sennheiser website. The software doesn't have an elaborate dashboard. It automatically detects the 3D G4ME 1 adapter once plugged in your computer and a Sennheiser logo will appear at the right side of the taskbar wherein you can configure audio output if you want 2.1, 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound.
The 3D G4ME 1 adapter itself has a switch you can slide to turn it off or on. When turned on, the blue LED light will go on as pictured above. Turning it off will also turn off the blue LED and put the device to default stereo output.
Out of the box, the Sennheiser PC 363D Gaming Headset is hands down the best gaming headset I've used. It has the clearest audio output of all the gaming headsets I have tested, both highs and lows. The PC 363D's 38mm drivers are simply superb and if this is what the games are made to sound like just like what Sennheiser is boasting in their video clip you can find in the first page, I have to say it is pretty spot on. The other gaming headsets I compared this with are simply incomparable to the audio quality of the PC 363D.
Let's first talk about gaming since this is a gaming headset after all. Using the 3D G4ME 1 really helps a lot particularly if you play FPS games. I played Battlefield 4 with the PC 363D and it does give you a better sense of where guns are firing, where footsteps are and other things happening around you. It does feel like being in the battlefield for real.
Now let's talk about listening to audio or movies. The PC 363D also excels for such activities. You can expect the same clear and crisp audio in listening to music or watching movies. Moving on to pairing the PC 363D with a different amplifier which in this case is a ASUS ThunderFX, I noticed a few things. The quality is certainly there but if you amplify audio too much, the 38mm drivers doesn't handle the lows very well and would start to experience distortions. Listening to lossless audio tracks, anything balanced and mellow are perfect for the PC 363D. But when you go to house and club music or EDM music like those from Approaching Nirvana, when amplified the PC 363D's lows get a bit distorted. Likely too much for the small 38mm drivers.
Well, the PC 363D isn't made to be paired with such amplifier but just in case you do, this might be a concern. Out of the box, it is perfect but paired with a powerful amplifier, performance would start to decline a bit. I could say that the audio quality of the PC 363D overall is a 9 out of 10. Almost perfect, almost.
The microphone of the Sennheiser PC 363D is also superb. Based on my experience, it too has the clearest audio of all the gaming headsets I've used. In fact, it is too clear that if you don't turn on the noise-cancelling feature, it's like a condenser microphone that will capture every noise in the surrounding. In gaming where communication is very important, you would want audio gear with such good quality microphone and most certainly the PC 363D got it.
Let's wrap up this review on the next page.
Final Thoughts and Conclusion
Summing up the Sennheiser PC 363D is very easy. The performance of the PC 363D gaming headset is superb, both the audio output and the microphone. It is by far the best gaming headset I have reviewed to date. Out of the box, it is a great gaming headset. I would rate the performance of the headset a 9 out of 10.
The PC 363D may not look that cool compared to the other gaming headset from Sennheiser, the GAME ONE gaming headset, the PC 363D however is very comfortable to wear. I can go for hours using the headset without the slightest discomfort.
Now, the Sennheiser PC 363D gaming headset would look like the best gaming headset to opt for today but there's a catch, the PC 363D is somewhat pricey. At $209 in Amazon, it sure isn't a cheap gaming headset. But if you are looking for a great gaming headset disregarding the price tag, the PC 363D Gaming Headset is the one to look for.
- Superb Audio Quality
- Superb Microphone Quality
- Very Comfortable
- Digital 7.1 Surround Sound Experience
- Rather Pricey
