azza heliosI came home today and found a rather large package from Azza waiting for me.  It was the Azza Helios 910, an ATX mid-tower case in the lower level price range, but with the mid to higher level of quality and sustenance.  As it is one of their cases I am not familiar with, the anticipation of getting a closer look got the better of me.  Before I could rip open the box, I had to set up my little photo studio to make sure I got plenty of pictures for everyone out there.  Now this is a bit of a slow process and it was driving me crazy.  Someday, I’ll get some extra space and money and try to set up something permanent.  Until then, I suffer the Christmas-like anticipation of opening boxes.   My waiting paid off. As soon as I pulled it out, I was in love with the black on black exterior/interior.  Yes, folks. This is a completely painted case! There is no bare metal anywhere.

Azza’s take on the Helios 910

The AZZA Helios 910 case is designed especially with the needs of PC Enthusiasts and Gamers in mind. With your gaming hardware producing a ton of heat, choosing the right case with superb thermal management becomes vital. This PC chassis provides an ultra-efficient cooling system to keep your components air-cooled while you are on the hunt. A 140mm fan is top-mounted to exhaust the hot air produced as a result of CPU operation. A monster 230mm blue LED fan is installed on the side for cold air intake. One 140mm blue LED fan is built-in locate in the front panel, drawing cold air in to maintain the HDD cage in low temperature. And a120mm fan in the back panel exhausts hot air out of the system. In summary, Helios's superior thermal management includes one 230mm monster fans, two 140mm fan and one 120mm fan that work en masse to provide an exceptional cooling system for your gaming needs.

An adjustable PSU support bridge is located in the bottom. You may choose to install the PSU with the fan facing either up or down, for air intake or exhaust. The pre-drilled fan holes right underneath all but help to eliminate the PSU as one of the heat sources in the case!

There is more! nine 5.25¡± and four 3/5¡± drives bays, you'll have all the room you need to build your dream system in this case. The USB and Audio ports are conveniently located on the side of the front panel, designed for easy access. Furthermore, the excellent cable management make cable can be routed behind the pre-drilled motherboard tray, thus minimizing clutter and improving airflow.

Manufactured with high-quality workmanship and designed with a stylish exterior, the AZZA Helios 910 has gaming performance squeezed into a stellar value computer case.

If you haven’t heard of Azza, here’s a brief introduction to the company:

Jump started with the Vision to build a premier corporate company that consistently exceeds the managed expectations of our customers, team members and partners, AZZA is driven by the Mission to provide the highest quality products of unmatched value, along with exemplary customer support. We do this via the efforts of a highly dedicated, professional, productive and experienced workforce who shares a commitment to the long-term growth and success of the company.

AZZA’s Mission is simple: Your satisfaction is our success!

I have reviewed several of their cases so far, and I have never been disappointed with the build, quality or pricing.  They do an excellent job of keeping costs down, but not letting you see where they manage to save the money from.  Or perhaps the other companies are just charging you more than they need to.  Let’s take a closer look at the Azza Helios 910 and see if they live up to their past successes.

Packaging and contents

Azza does a marvelous job of impressing you just with the art work and the graphics design on their packaging.  This is no tan box with black lettering. Instead, you get a professionally designed work of art. Alright. Maybe it's not a work of art, but it is professionally designed and great to look at.

If you take a closer look at the side, you will see this case comes with two different options.

You can select either the blue LED fans with black interior or the red LED fans with red interior.

As usual for Azza, they protect their cases during shipping with Styrofoam and plastic wrap. Consequently, I found no scratches, fingerprints or dents.  Good work on their part, but something you would expect from any company that ships to your home.

Azza includes a custom-designed, well-written case instruction manual and all the screws you could need.

Wire ties to straighten out your airflow issues and brackets. Custom painted to match your interior, no less.

Closer look at the Azza Helios 910 from the outside

This is one sharp looking case, dull matte black finish on the outside and inside.

There is no side panel window. It's one of the areas they did save money. I would imagine.

Something else they did differently with this case is they placed the power control and access buttons on the front instead of on top like past cases I have reviewed from them.  There's nothing wrong with that, and in some ways it makes it better as there are no wires on top to get in the way of “storing” stuff on it.

It has the mesh front for improved air flow throughout the case.

A pretty standard rear panel, but painted of course!!  As a bonus there are water cooler holes lined with rubber for protection and a bottom mounted power supply with the pre-drilled air holes to allow your power supplies fan to either exhaust out the bottom or to pull cooler air from outside the case.

One difference from past cases from Azza with the Helios 910 is the lack of the fan speed adjustment.  They have the cutout, but nothing to fill it.

Your top mounted 140mm blue LED fan, otherwise flat and featureless.  Perfect place to store stuff, lol.

And a close up of the 230mm side mounted blue LED fan.

The bottom of the case shows a better view of the power supply vent holes and the location where you could mount another fan, with pre-drilled mounting holes for two different size mounting locations.

Closer look at the Azza Helios 910 from the inside

A beautiful black interior awaits you when you pop the side panel off.

Combined with the bright blue LED side and top panel fans, and you have one sweet looking interior.

Of note for the interior, you will see some small pads for your power supply to rest on, providing vibration dampening effects to help lower noise levels.

A well designed motherboard tray with offset pre-drilled holes to help line up your mother board and several large openings surrounding the motherboard for wire routing.  Nothing looks worse than to have a smartly painted interior with all your killer parts and not be able to show anyone because the wiring is such a mess.

One of my favorite features is the padded hard drive cage. Again working on eliminating vibration from your high rpm spinning storage devices.  Hmm, where did they save money at?

You will find plenty of space for your hard drives and optical devices, which are mounted in place with very secure thumbscrews.  And you can see just how well ventilated the bays are, a 140mm blue LED fan out front blowing over your hard drives and the mesh in front of your optical devices.

Your back panel hides an offset rear motherboard tray which as we showed earlier has several large cutouts for wire management.  There are several cutouts to hook your zip ties too to keep the wires in check.

The only issue I have seen with most cases, this one included, is depending on your motherboard, and its 8 pin plug in, there is no way to route that from your power supply without it crossing your motherboard, unless they mount the power supply on top.  I prefer the lower mounted power supply personally, but there has to be a way to fix this problem.

And one last look at your 230mm blue LED side mounted fan from the inside.

A couple of pictures with an extra large power supply, plenty of room available for it.  You’ll notice the motherboard has plenty of room on the right hand side for cable management and long video cards.

Some dark shots to show you how the brilliant blue LED’s look at night.

Conclusion

I want to thank Azza for providing the Helios 910 for review.  If you’re looking for a good mid-tower case with excellent quality, you can’t go wrong with the Helios 910.  I try to go into every case review looking for something to complain about, or something that stands out to help separate cases from each other, since there are just so many different choices out there.  So far Azza cases have never shown me anything to complain about.  Each time I pull one out of the box and tear it apart, all I find is a well constructed, polished and quality case.  Did I find something that stands out?  Well we found a few areas where they had scrimped to keep the costs down, but you won’t really notice it and Yes there were standout areas.  A fully painted chassis is one area that really stands out, the power supply pads and hard drive cage padding jump up and scream to be recognized as well as the rubber grommet water cooling holes and superior air circulation.  Azza steps up to the plate and knocks it out with the Helios. Wiith a Newegg price of $79.99 and a $30 mail-in-rebate, you can’t go wrong with this hot looking case.
