Introduction

 LiqMax

For the longest time if you wanted a liquid cooling system in your PC. It involved going out and buying each piece separately. Some companies sell kits but you still have to put it together. This takes time and usually requires that the entire system be taken out to install your parts. Until within the last four years companies have taken all the work out of Liquid cooling with AIO (All-In-One) Liquid Coolers these are pre-built sealed units that have zero-maintenance. As you will see later can perform just as good as some of the custom loops out there.

Enermax Technology Corporation is a world-renowned PC Power Supply Unit manufacturer. Packaging and Closer Look

enermax liqmax

The Top of the box has a full color illustration of both the LED Fan and Non-Led Fan model. (We will be testing the Non-LED Fan model.) In the upper left hand corner you can see the company's logo and slogan. On the right of the box you will see the two smaller pictures of the two models with an orange dot telling which model is in the box. At the bottom we see the Model name 6 key features about the product, and what CPU sockets it is compatible with.

liqmax

The bottom of the box Has the model in the upper left hand corner directly below that is a list of the 9 features that this cooler offers, below that are the dimensions of the product. The upper right hand of has the company name and slogan, below that is a picture of the 4 key features this product has. Under that is an illustration that shows what the product would look like installed and the orientation of the airflow. The bottom half is comprised of the specs for the unit.

enermax liqmax

The Back of the box has the company logo and slogan in the upper left hand corner and the model of the unit in the middle.

liqmax

The Front of the box has the company logo and slogan in the upper left hand corner, an illustration of the Block with its LED Effect, and the model of the unit at the bottom.

enermax liqmax

Both of the sides are identical and feature the countries in which the product is distributed as well as some of the key features this unit features.

enermax liqmax

Once you open the box you can clearly see how well this product is packaged. Everything has its own little compartment and comes wrapped in a plastic bag.

enermax liqmax

Inside the box you will find the radiator/pump assembly, 1x 120mm Enermax Twister bearing Fan /w Adjustable Peak speed and PWM with an RPM range from 600-2500 RPM, all the supporting hardware to mount it to almost any CPU Socket as far back as LGA 775(Intel) and AM2(AMD) and of course the Users Manuel. I will note that the Enermax Logo and Name Light up with a soft Blue Glow.

liqmax

The CPU Block is made completely out of Copper. I will admit it does need a bit of polishing.

liqmax

Installing the CPU Block is as easy as Pie all it requires you to do is put some thermal paste (comes in the bag of supporting hardware) on your CPU fasten 4 screws to the back plate and you are ready to rock.

liqmax

The 120S is just small enough to fit inside of some of the smallest cases that support 120mm fans in. For our testing I decided I would put it into the smallest, tightest, case I have. The CM Elite 110. This case is literally hell for AIO coolers. There is no other Fan In this case other than the Cooling fan for the CPU.

Let us look at the Liqtech 120X in the next.

The Liqtech 120X

liqtech

The 120X is the 120S’s bigger brother with a few differences.

Packaging and a Closer Look

liqtech

liqtech

liqtech

Packaging is Identical with the placements of the Logos, model number, and illustrations. There is only one version of the 120X Non-LED.

liqtech

The 120X Model is packages just as well as the 120S the compartments for all the pieces and everything in its own Plastic bag.

liqtech

Inside you will find The Radiator/Pump assembly, 2x 120mm Enermax Twister bearing fans these also have adjustable peak speed(600-2500RPM Range) and PWM, Also included is a box that has all the supporting hardware for installing the product and of course the Users Manual.

liqtech

Here is a look at what the front of the fans looks like they have a nice industrial look and have very solid frames.

liqtech

Here is a look at what the APS (Adjustable Peak Speed) switch looks like and it’s settings.

liqtech

The CPU Block on this model has a large Aluminum heat sink with a neat Enermax branding. Also note this model has soft lines instead of the traditional hard lines.

liqtech

The Back of this block is also made out of copper but this one has been polished.

liqtech

The Radiator itself is almost twice as thick as its smaller brother the 120S and has a creative aluminum piece on the side featuring the Company logo on.

liqtech

The face of the radiator had two red rubber strips to absorb vibration. And crate a proper seal so the air from the fan goes through the radiator and not out the sides.

liqtech

Installing this Block is even easier than the 120S Put on the Back plate Slap some e Thermal paste on your CPU and tighten it down with the included spring loaded thumb screws. You don’t even need a screwdriver.

liqtech

And as you can see this unit also fits in some of the smaller cases just barely but it fits.

Testing

Hardware setup:

  • Case - Cooler Master Elite 120 ITX
  • Motherboard - ASRock A88X FM2+ ITX
  • CPU - AMD A10-7850k APU
  • RAM - 8Gb G.Skill Ripjaws X 2133Mhz DDR3
  • PSU - Ultra 600W Semi-Modular(Custom Shortened Cables)
  • Storage - SanDisk 120Gb SSD

Testing Software:

  • CPU-Z
  • ASRock A-Tuning
  • Prime95 (30 Minutes)

We have two phases in our test, using stock clocks at 3.3 Ghz and at overclocked clocks at 3.7 Ghz. Both tests were done in a testing area with ambient temperature of 30C. First let us look at the temperatures on the 3.3 Ghz test below.

enermax

The Liqmax 120S pretty much have the same performance with the Liqtech 120X. Surprisingly, the Liqmax 120S has a cooler idle temperature than the Liqtech 120X of 1 degree but the difference it rather negligible. Now below is the 3.7 Ghz temperature results from the test.

enermax

We found the 120X cooler by 6 degrees from the 120S on a 3.7 Ghz overclock on our AMD A10-7850k APU.

Final Thoughts and Conclusion

LiqMax

liqmax

 liqtech

Both the Enermax 120S and 120X look similar to other AIO coolers in the market today but these certainly come on top in terms of design. Enermax added some appealing features in both models such as the branding in the radiator, the option to get them bundled with an Apollish fan and the unique radiator fin design built for better cooling performance. All of these are a winning combination that will make you consider more about these AIO coolers from the rest.

After putting the Enermax 120S and 120X AIO coolers through a thorough and challenging test using a very small and tight case with very little airflow, the coolers passed our tests with flying colors. Both coolers are successful in keeping our AMD A10-7850K running cool through our rigorous tests without a problem whatsoever. Note that the Cooler Master Elite 110 mini ITX chassis we used is like the worst case scenario for any type of cooling be it air cooling or liquid cooler. You can expect better performance from these Enermax cooler in a larger case with better airflow and ventilation.

You can find the Enermax Liqmax 120S with black stock fans for $74.99 at Amazon and the 120S that comes with the Apollish fan for $79.99 also at Amazon. As for the Enermax Liqtech 120X, you can find it at Amazon for $99.99. Without a doubt the 120S and 120X both come highly recommended.
