Kingston HyperX Savage 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 2666MHz Memory Review

Introduction

Kingston Technology has been around since 1998 and impressing enthusiasts and system builders the whole time. Their HyperX DDR3 memory line consists of a wide range of products. When the X99 chipset motherboards were released, Kingston quickly followed with DDR4 kits. The first to be released war the HyperX Predator DDR4 series, with the HyperX Fury and Savage DDR4 coming shortly thereafter.

The HyperX Savage has become quite popular since the DDR3 version was released. The DDR4 version continues to offer many of the same features. They are available with black medium profile asymmetrical die-cast aluminum heat spreaders and black printed circuit boards. A sculptured design offers an aggressive look that is often lack in lower profile memory.

This particular sample is a 64GB (4 x 16GB DDR4) memory kit rated at 2666MHz. We are quite interested to see how this kit compares to the HyperX Savage 16GB (2 x 8GB)( 2666MHz kit reviewed back in October. That kit had timings of 13-14-14-39, while this kit has timings of 15-15-15-35. The comparison should prove interesting.

Kingston’s take on the HyperX Savage 64GB (4x16GB) DDR4 2666MHz Memory Kit

HyperX® Savage DDR4 memory is an unbeatable combination of fast speeds and aggressive timings to complement Intel’s 2, 4, 6 or 8 core processors for faster video editing, 3D rendering, gaming and AI processing. With speeds up to 3000MHz and latencies of CL12–CL15, it’s optimized for Intel’s Z170 & X99 chipsets and features easy overclocking with no need for manual timing adjustments in BIOS.

Available in single modules and kits of 2, 4, and 8 and in capacities up to 64GB, HyperX Savage DDR4 memory has lower power consumption than DDR3, with 1.2V or 1.35V only for all parts. Its asymmetrical, stylish, die-cast aluminum heat spreader has a low profile to fit under oversized CPU coolers and provide enhanced thermal dissipation to keep your system cooler as it complements the look of the latest PC hardware and helps you stand out from the “square” crowd.
