Testing & Performance

Devices Tested:

  • Samsung Note 3
  • Blu Studio 5.5
  • iPad mini 4
  • Motorola Xyboard
  • Plantronics Backbeat GO 2
  • GameSir G4s Gaming Controller

Test Results:

I didn’t have any Quick Charge compatible devices to test with and was unable to test the quick charge capability of the Lumsing Quick Charger. Therefore, all of the devices I used to test the multiport wall-charger were completed using the smart charge ports. The Quick Charge port reacted like Smart Charge port with incompatible devices.

For testing the Lumsing Quick Charge wall charger, I started with a Samsung Note 3. The charging time for this phone was only 1 hour & 47 minutes, when it typically takes an average of 2 hours & 20 minutes with the phone's original charger. Even without using the Quick Charge Technology we saved more than half an hour here.

A Blu Studio 5.5 smartphone, an unplanned test, but I decided to add it in this review of the Lumsing Quick Charge. The device was only charged for the 80 minutes before the owner needed it back. The results were a charge of 1% to 17% in 80 minutes. These are not stellar results on their own, but the phone's owner assured me that the results were definitely on par with the poor quality of the phone, initially released in 2013, and should not reflect negatively on the Lumsing Quick Charge itself.

The first tablet I tested was a brand-new iPad mini 4. The average time to charge the tablet is about 3 hours & 10 minutes with the original charger. The Lumsing charger took 3 hours & 27 minutes, but I would like to add during charging at 2 hours and 50 minutes the tablet was at 90%. Then it took the next 37 minutes to trickle charge the battery the last 10%. I find it fascinating that the "smart charge", with its “intelligent auto detect technology” consistently slowed to a trickle at 90%.

I decided to test the charging ability of a not so up-to-date tablet. I just happen to own a Motorola Xyboard 10.1 tablet & was sadden to find it would not charge at all with this wall charger.

Next, I want to try charging a Bluetooth headset so I decided on Plantronics Backbeat GO 2. It was a successful test with a time of 1 hour & 25 minutes. Where the average charge time for this product is 2 hours & 30 minutes on the original charger. Again, the Smart Charge Technology gave us an impressive reduction in what I would normally expect to see for charging this device.

The last device tested was the GameSir G4s Gaming Controller from my last review. Once I finally ran the battery down (which took my wife better than 15 hours), it charged in only 1 hours & 58 minutes. The average time to charge the controller via PC USB is 2 hours & 30 minutes.
