Packaging & Unboxing
There is no surprise that the packaging for the Formula IX is very appealing. As expected, the Asus Republic of Gamers, or ROG, Logo in the top right hand corner of the front of the box. Just below the ROG logo is the Maximus IX Formula product branding. Across the Bottom, there are several logos that list a few main features of the motherboard. They start with the Asus. Next to that, there is the Intel 270 chipset, the Intel Core Inside, Nvidia SLI, AMD Crossfire, ASUS Aura Sync, and one not many boards can say they have, the EK Water block logo.
Like all ROG boards, the packaging is beautiful.
The rear of the box has a depiction of the board, as well of the pictures of the main features of the board.
The rear of the box has a ton of information packed into it. The top left corner has the ROG logo and the Maximus IX Formula product branding. In the center of the box is there is a depiction of the board and the IO shield. To the left of that, they have listed every specification of the motherboard. Everything from measurements to audio and video outputs, and everything in-between. These include the CrossChill EK II built in water block for the power delivery, the 2x2 MU-MIMO Wi-Fi, the New SupremeFX Codec, and my personal favorite feature, the built-in IO Shield. On the very bottom, there is contact information for ASUS as well as 2 QR codes. One sends you to the ROG Facebook, the other to the ROG official site.
The bottom flap of the packaging has the ROG and ASUS logos as well as the Maximus IX Formula product branding printed on it.

When first opened, the motherboard is covered by a protective plastic sheet that also helps to keep it in place while be stored or transported.
The plastic is removed to reveal the beautiful Maximus IX Formula. The motherboard is set is a cardboard tray.
When the motherboard and tray are removed, you’ll find the user manual in the center, with 2 side compartments. Under the user manual is the driver disk.
The 2 side compartments open to reveal the accessories of the board.
This side contains the various cables that come with your motherboard such as the SATA and RGB cables.
The right compartment contains the HB SLI bridge, coaster, WIFI antenna (not pictured) and a few other accessories.
When you open the box, you realize that even the box lives up to the ROG name. The box opens like a chest. Inside the lid, there is a piece of cardboard connecting the op and bottom portions of the box, so the lid only opens about 2/3 of the way. Inside the lid, you see and ROG logo with the message, “Welcome to the Republic”. The motherboard is set into a black card board tray, with a formed piece of plastic that covers the board and helps to keep in place. When the motherboard and top tray are removed, you find 3 separate compartments that hold the numerous accessories that come with the Maximus IX Formula. Lastly, under the accessories is the sheet of ROG themed stickers.
