Final Thoughts & Conclusion
Even before I tested the Maximus IX Formula, I knew it was aimed at the higher end of the enthusiast market. After testing, I totally understand why. Like many others, I used to buy the cheapest motherboard that I could use to overclock. I assumed that the motherboard didn’t really affect performance that much, so it wasn’t that big of a deal. Until I was introduced to the ASUS ROG line up with the Rampage V Extreme. Since then, I’ve been a huge fan of the ROG motherboards. The Maximus IX Formula just further cemented my reasons why ROG branded products are a must have for a true PC Elitist. As of the launch of this board, it’s priced at $379.99. However, it’s expected to drop some time near its launch.
The build quality, aesthetic, and overall performance of the Maximus IX Formula was outstanding! Overclocking the i7 7700K was an all-around simple and fun experience. This was in part to the ease of use of the ASUS UEFI BIOS. It’s very user friendly and easy to navigate. I achieved a stable overclock of 5.1 GHz on my 7th gen i7 7700K with this motherboard. The massive array of software available for the ROG Maximus IX Formula is designed for the user to maximize the performance of their system to its fullest capacity. The Maximus IX Formula does just that. Between the software option and the Aura lighting built into the board, you can truly customize your system to perform and look the way that best fits your user case and personality. For these reasons, and many more, I’m happy to award the ASUS ROG Maximus IX Formula the Proclockers “Editor’s Choice” award. For the enthusiast that must have the best of the best, look no further than the ASUS Maximus IX Formula.
