For the last couple of generations of motherboards, specialty designs have become ever increasingly popular. Many manufacturers have created overclocking and gaming specific designs. Biostar decided to go a different route and design a motherboard that forgo most of the other specialty board features and focus on mainly on the audio. Soon the Hi-Fi Z77X was born. Now, two generations later, the legacy continues with the Hi-Fi Z97WE.
Based around Intel’s Z97 the Hi-Fi Z97WE supports 4th Generation Intel Core 1150 socket processors. There is 2way AMD CrossFire, but no Nvidia SLI support. On the networking side, there are dual Realtek RTL8111G network adaptors. Puro Hi-Fi via a Realtek ALC892 115dB SNR HD Audio controller with Built-in rear audio amplifier supplies the audio needs.
Biostar has not been remiss on the software side either. They have revised their UEFI BIOS. There are many applications that allow quite a bit of control over the BIOS, overclocking, and other various features of the Hi-Fi Z97WE. If that was not enough, the Hi-Fi Z97WE is also one of the most inexpensive Z97 motherboards available.
