The BIOS

I used the latest version of the BIOS at the time the review was written. Version F4, released on 12/08/2017. However, there have been a couple Bios updates since then. First version F5g was released on 01/04/17. Then, version F5j was released in 01/26/17. UEFI, or Unified Extensible Firmware Interface, a software interface between an operating system and platform firmware. UEFI replaces the Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) firmware interface used in older motherboard. In the UEFI, you can set the basic and advanced functions of your motherboard, as well as update the BIOS. You can set the boot order of specific drives, set fans curves for fans plugged directly into your motherboard and overclock your CPU to name a few.

Here is the first page the BIOS opens to. From here you can navigate anywhere in the BIOS. The Advanced Frequency section is where you go to overclock your processor and set up an XMP profile.

To overclock the CPU, you increase the CPU Core Ratio. To increase the ratio by one ( 100 MHz) you hit Shift and the + button.

Once the overclock is stable using the multiplier, you can also increase the CPU Base Clock for additional speed and performance.

In the Peripherals section, there are several things you can configure. Here is where you can set up just about anything you plug into the motherboard. USB, SATA and NVME configuration and RGB Fusion are a few of the things you can set up in this section.

The Chipset section of the BIOS is where you enable and disable things such as the onboard audio, PCH LAN controller and the onboard graphics.
