A Closer Look
Aorus Z270 and X370 motherboards come with either a primary white color scheme or a primary black color scheme. So far all the Aorus X299 motherboards that have been released are dressed in all black.
Angular shapes and sharp lines are abound, giving the Aorus and Darth Vader like feel to it.
There are total of five USB 3.1 Type-A ports and one USB 3.1 Type-C port. One RJ-45 port is driven by the Intel GbE controller. Four audio out jacks, with a microphone in jack and optical port provide audio connections. A PS/2 port provides legacy peripheral connectivity. HDMI and DisplayPort ports provide video connectivity.
The front panel audio header, onboard audio controls, case LED headers, TPM header, overclock button and power button reside on the bottom rear on the Aorus X299 Gaming 3.
The lower front section of the motherboard contains two USB 2.0 headers, three fan headers, and the front panel connections.
The M.2 connector resides below the upper PCI-E 16x slot.
There are a total of eight SATA 6.0 connectors. Unfortunately there are no U.2 connectors
The 24-pin ATX power connector resides towards the top. Just below it is dual frontpanel USB 3.0 connectors. Just above is another fan header. The eight memory slots support quad channel DDR4 at speeds up to 4400 MHz.
At the top of the Aorus X299 Gaming 3 are two more fan headers, another RGB header and single 8-pin CPU power connector.
