Ever since AMD released the Radeon HD 7xxx, we have been very impressed with the features and the overall performance of the news cards. With many AMD partners releasing several cards within each series there is a lot to choose from. So, how do you go about picking the right card? Well, we believe that it comes down to company repetition and features. Both of these aspects can still make the choice difficult so we will try and narrow it down for you.

Sapphire has been around for a long while now and is trued among all: gamers, professionals, enthusiast as well as the causal PC user. That rets the repetition out of the way. Next, we have features. You can go out and pickup up a card at launch but chances are it will be a reference card based on AMD’s own design but the card are all the same to a degree. Closer look

The whole reasoning behind the FleX technology from Sapphire is to give the gamer and the professional a way of having a multi-monitor setup without having to go through the expense of purchasing extra adapters or expensive displayport monitors. The effects are still the same as you can have that Eyefinity setup you have always dreamt about or have multi displays showing different screens.

Coupling this technology with a mid-range card like the Radeon HD 7770 is the perfect mix for those on a tighter budget. With the 7770 hovering around the $130 price point and 24” being had for around $130 for the cheapest models you can have a Eyefinity setup for just over $500, not including the price of the rest of the system.

The core of this particular 7770 is clocked at 1GHz on its 28nm chip just like the title states. The 1GB of GDDR5 memory is dialed in at 1125MHz or 4500MHz effectively. The card has 1.5 billion transistors and has 640 stream processors.

The card is a dual sot solution meaning it will take up two of your rear expansion slots and sometimes the unoccupied slot beneath the slot the card is actually using.  This is mostly due to the cooler used on the card. This cooler setup is far different from the reference design as it looks better and performs well beyond that of the stock reference.

It uses a single fan mounted atop an aluminum heat sink with two copper heat pipes. The fan is designed to blow over the cooler and out all sides of the GPU. The cooler looks for the case’s cooling system to help with the whole cooling aspect.

The Radeon HD 7770 takes full advantage of the PCIe 3.0 technology when used in the correct system like a full Ivy Bridge setup meaning Ivy Bridge processor and a Z77 chipset motherboard.

The card also has a single Crossfire slot allowing it to communicate with another Radeon card for a better gaming experience.

For visual ports the Radeon HD 7770 has a single HDMI 1.4a and DisplayPort 1.2 and dual DVI (D & I) ports.

Conclusion

Chances are the main reasons for buying a card like the Sapphire Radeon FleX 7770 is because of its abilities to take three regular DVI monitors and use the well-known Eyefinity technology. This will definitely enhance the gaming experience but feel it is better suited for productivity when using all three monitor as the performance in may not be quite up to snuff at higher setting so scaling back on them will help with the frames per second. If you are looking to turn up the settings and still wanting the FleX feature looking at the Sapphire Radeon 7950 maybe a good option. If using the card in a one monitor setup we saw the card perform very well and worthy of playing games at a much higher level than with three monitors. If I was in the market for a card to put into a nice business machine where I need a lot of surface for data this would be the card.
