The low profile HD 7750 is ideal for those that little space internally for larger cards. Yes, a great fit the many Dell and HP machine with the extra small enclosures and smaller power supplies.

Sapphire’s take on the Radeon GD 7750

The SAPPHIRE HD 7750 1GB Low profile model is based on the highly acclaimed Graphics Core Next architecture from AMD, and retains all the features of the HD 7700 series but in a truly low profile format. Many low profile cards use a cooler that is actually larger than the PCB format, and cannot be used in slimline cases. The SAPPHIRE solution uses a specially developed single slot cooler with an efficient ball bearing fan and heatsink design that truly follows the low profile format. This makes it ideally suited to applications like HTPCs or installation in even the slimmest styles of mini-ITX cases.

Performance is the same as other implementations of the HD 7750, with core clock speed of 800MHz and 1GB of GDDR5 memory clocked at 4500MHz (effective). Output configuration is very flexible, including multi-monitor support for AMD Eyefinity. Its Dual-Link DVI-I, HDMI and Displayport outputs are all mounted within the low-profile backplate. This has been achieved by the use of mini-DP and micro HDMI sockets. A set of Mini-DP to DP, micro-HDMI to HDMI, and DVI-I to VGA adapters are all supplied with the card, as well as both low profile and standard height backplates.

Closer look

The Sapphire low profile Radeon HD 7750 has what I call moderate specifications and should be ample enough for low- to mid-range gaming but great for video playback. The specifications are an 800MHz 28nm core clock with 1GB of 4500MHz effective memory clock. And at the same time sporting 512 Stream processors.

The low profile Radeon HD 7750 from Sapphire looks to be the ideal solution for those sporting small thin enclosures that are typical when building HTPC systems and alike. The reason behind this is for obvious reason like the physical size and the cooling solution.

This is a single slot solution. Granted most ITX cases have dual slots but using a card like this one will allow you to use the other slot for something else useful like a Wi-Fi adapter.

Sapphire uses a cooler that I personally have yet to see on any of their other cards. It’s a small black aluminum heat sink with a small fan; I would guess about 70mm-80mm. A lot of the times a fan of this size is noisy but that is not the case here. During testing we heard almost nothing from the card.

For video output there are possible solutions: HDMI with 3D, Mini Display Port and a Dual Link DVI port. Using the Dual Link DVI port the card will support resolutions up to 2560x1600 at 60Hz.

It is possible to connect two of these cards together to take advantage of the Cross technology. And this can be done without the aid of a Crossfire bridge and no extra power connectors.

Conclusion

There are several reasons why one would elect to buy the Sapphire low profile Radeon HD 7750. These reasons could include its physical size and the ability to adapt to smaller system cases, its quietest which was the lowest we have seen with a GPU actually containing an active cooling situation, its great video playback quality or is moderate gaming performance.

No matter the reason you will be getting one of the better cards when it comes to all of the aspects we listed above. But we were impressive with its gaming aspects at 1920x1200 solution with settings cranked up. In most of the gaming benchmarks we saw the card maintain higher than 30fps. Not bad. Now imagine the resolution lowered to a more modest 1920x1080 or thereabouts. The Radeon HD 7750 is no slouch.

We know a majority of the buyer is this card will chose to throw it in a HTPC build and sit back and enjoy the wonderful visuals that are outputted. And we totally understand. And in doing this you will not hear a thing from the card making the watching of videos joyful. Actually, I can see this card being used in system that most describe at silent PCs. There are fan-less models out there that are suited for this same purpose but some of the passive heat sinks are too large to fit in some environments. Advantage the Sapphire Radeon HD Low Profile 7750.

And retailing for $110 or so this card is a real winner.
