To be honest, it surprises me that AMD are always trying to reverse engineer their chips. I like that they try to retain compatibility but they lose flexibility on their dies.
If they’d allow more frequent socket upgrades, their chips could in turn be more powerful. Piledriver is confirmed to use AM3+ just like Bulldozer, which puts me in the camp of “it’ll suck just as hard.”
Yeah that is true. Maybe 2 cycles then move to a new socket.
I am not going to comment on Piledriver until I see some real results. Not that insanely fake post a couple days ago. I dont think they will turn out a world beater but they better be competitive. Im afraid they will just ramp clock cycles to stay in the game due to the weak cores. stock cpus at 4.5ghz and mess like that.
