HGST has today announced the world’s first 10TB hard disk drive, the Ultrastar Archive Ha10. Aimed at enterprise and active archive operations, this HDD combines HGST’s second generation HelioSeal platform and shingled magnetic recording (SMR) technologies. HGST says that while both technologies succeed in delivering unmatched storage density and power efficiency there are no compromises in reliability and performance predictability.June 10, 2015 at 10:01 am #85490Admin1Guest
Thanks Kev, I can imagine how much a 10 TB platter drive will cost lolJune 20, 2015 at 11:37 am #85669YesParticipant
Once above 2TB you need to partition. I wonder if you can access the whole drive, although you would think it would be more efficient in smaller partitions. Anyone know the optimal size?June 26, 2015 at 4:46 am #85796aceMember
i would be afraid to put that much data on one drive. Unless it was in raid for redundencyJuly 7, 2015 at 1:59 pm #86271tobyMember
I agree with above statement that that much space worrys me. Also, the read/write speed is probably terrible.September 22, 2016 at 5:29 pm #92818moonbugParticipant
I wonder if I can fill up the 10TB drive before it fails on me.
