Anybody that knows me well knows that I am crazy about The Witcher series, I have the books, comics and some art work and store displays from Gamestop as well as some art work and other things. I have read/am reading all the books that have been printed in English (I am reading the last in English Sword of Destiny now) I have some limited edition books and some other collectables as well.

I thought maybe some of you that may have played any of the games might be interested in reading the books as well so I dug up this list of the books and their release dates for English readers.

So are any of you as crazy for this series as I am?

List of Witcher books and the expected release dates for those of us that only read English or those that would prefer to read it in English.

The Witcher Stories

Miecz Przeznaczenia (The Sword of Destiny) (1992, English edition: 2015)
Ostatnie życzenie (The Last Wish) (1993, English edition: 2007). Note that, while The Last Wish was published after The Sword of Destiny, the stories contained in The Last Wish take place first chronologically, and many of the individual stories were published before The Sword of Destiny.

The Saga

The Saga focuses on the story of Geralt of Rivia and Ciri, the Child of Destiny. Ciri, a princess of a recently conquered country and a key pawn in international politics, becomes a Witcher-in-training. Geralt is pulled into a whirlwind of events in his attempts to protect her.

Krew elfów (Blood of Elves) (1994, English edition: 2008)
Czas pogardy (Time of Contempt) (1995, English edition: 2013)
Chrzest ognia (Baptism of Fire) (1996, English edition: 2014)
Wieża Jaskółki (The Swallow’s Tower) (1997, English edition: 2016)
Pani Jeziora (Lady of the Lake) (1999, English edition: 2017)

Stand-alone novels

Sezon burz (Season of Storms) (2013) – a midquel set between short stories in The Last Wish

In non-Witcher anthologies

Coś się kończy, coś się zaczyna (Something Ends, Something Begins) (2000) – this collection contains various stories by Sapkowski, including two from the Witcher saga.
A Polish Book of Monsters (2010) – an English anthology edited and translated by Michael Kandel, contains a unique translation of “The Witcher” short story, translated as “Spellmaker.” The same story is found in The Last Wish with a different translation.

Here are some of the things I have, the dragon poster hangs over my desk.

Bought this but had to return it because it was broken when it arrived, true pity because it was an E3 2014 exclusive given to the media only so they are in very short supply.

I also have some comics and the collectors edition for PC shown here.

Yep, I’m a bit crazy for the series as well :). I love Sapkowski’s Witcher books and the games are favorites, of course.

It sounds like the reason I haven’t found The Swallow’s Tower or Lady of the Lake yet is that they haven’t printed English translations of them. Its good to hear they will be coming out eventually. I’ve heard that they also have Witcher TV shows or movies in Poland, but I haven’t tracked any down.

This is the movie, I am told by native speakers of Polish that it is pretty bad. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wiedzmin-The-Hexer-The-Witcher-2001-DVD-NTSC-Michal-Zebrowski-POLSKI-POLISH-/390131572957?hash=item5ad5a760dd

There is or was a series as well but it got the same review as the movie. I saved for several months (From the day it was announced until release) to get the collectors edition, this is my unboxing. Little bit of background noise, I had even turned off the A/C and there is still noise. Edit: By the way you can find unofficial translations online, but I am told they are kind of sketchy.

Thank you Sir-diealot. I don’t get collector’s editions as a rule, but certainly considered it for this game. From your video I’d say this one was far more worthwhile than many collector’s editions turn out to be.

Just getting the basic Wild Hunt game was an adventure for me. I planned my gaming around it last year, replaying the earlier ones, timed for the original October release when I’d locked it down as my main birthday gift. I was quite upset by the delay even though I am a proponent of companies not releasing something until it works. Friends and family must have been so sick of me talking about it. In fact, I had a long Witcher discussion today with a friend who ended up getting W3, and even reading the books, due to my telling him about it last year.

I’d had the money set aside for the release, but everything that could go wrong did, at exactly the wrong time (gotta love Murphy’s Law). My husband got very unexpectedly laid off at the same time as he landed expensive emergency dental bills which was followed up by numerous car repairs. I was lucky to get the GOG version over a month after release and intend to get the Steam version for my next replay. It is rare for me to replay games, and certainly not until years later, but I’ve been intending to make this an exception ever since I saw how the possible paths can divulge even in many side quests. I’ll probably jump back in after I play Arkham Knight and Fallout 4.
This is the first time I have ever bought a collectors edition myself, but I am glad I did, the statue is beautiful. I am very dedicated to this series, it took me one year, one month and fourteen days to finish the first one which was a combination of having never playing this style of game before and mostly because of a car accident that limits my amount of play time due to pain, I have not played much at all this week. I have gotten a few people into it myself, I enjoy giving the first two games away when they are on sale and I can afford them. I gave away the trilogy in my Facebook group in April, I was glad things worked out because some money that was supposed to come in did not and I had to use cash I did not want to to give it to them but more money came through that was unexpected. I did not play until a month after the game came out because I wanted to play on a system that would run it at max settings so I built this system, thank goodness for my GF or I would not have eaten well while saving to do all that which is how I normally get stuff by cutting out meals.

Us gamers can be really dedicated when it comes to our games, can’t we? <g>
I made it a point to build my current system with Witcher 3 in mind. Couldn’t have timed that one better because we hit all the monetary issues soon after.
I don’t usually buy new games at all. I  hold off until the price comes down or I can ask for it as a birthday or holiday gift. My husband wouldn’t put up with me skipping meals, but he’s otherwise very supportive of my gaming habit.

My play time is being restricted a bit more than usual currently due to a problem with my thumb. My physical therapist told me to avoid using it until I can get in to see a doctor who can fix it, but that’s seriously impeding both my gaming and my work. Lucky for me I figured out I could still play some if I use a PS4 controller (PS3 wouldn’t install for anything on my Win10 machine). So I paid a ridiculous amount (for me) on a new controller for a console I don’t even own. I still have to limit playtime and be careful, especially with the more active battles, but its lucky I got it because I’m still waiting on a specialist appointment.

Not sure how much game time I’ll have after I see the doc because its going to take me forever to catch back up on my work. I enjoy drawing out the good games to make them last anyway, though. The important thing is to manage to set aside a little time to play most nights.

I have some problems with my hands so I I can feel for you. Listen to the doctor and remember you may lose some playing time now but if you push it gaming to much now you may lose out on gaming in the future because you have done further damage. Better to wait and have that playing time in the future. Nice stuff you are selling by the way.

Thank you. 🙂

I did learn that same lesson over the course of many years due to the abdominal injury which is actually the reason I need a scooter and can’t get out much. An hour or two a night with the game hasn’t even been making it ache lately since I’ve learned to focus on the non- or very light-fighting activities. Among other things, I’m hunting up a great many armor options. 🙂

Unfortunately, I’m the only one who makes those items on my website and making them is what really hurts my hand. I’ve had to temporarily discontinue a few of my most popular items because I can’t make new ones from scratch until the hand is fixed and sold the ones I had in mostly finished form.

The hand thing is a standard problem which may require minor in-office surgery. Doesn’t sound like something that will get worse than that. Heck, if its a choice between waiting and the bandaid-style injection solution, I may well break down and have this new doc just do that (I hate bandaid solutions, but its been over month and I need to be able to work since things always start getting busier around this time of year).
I truly wish you the best of luck with it. By the way I was thinking of getting the mens chainmail G-String then remember that I am half Irish and figured you did not make them small enough 😀

If you have only played the third then you are truly missing out. I think the first had the best story myself.

Steve:

I’m getting bored with W3.  This game is all over the place.  Not sure where I need to level, but the mobs I’m running into are 5 levels higher than me.  I’m getting the crap kicked outta me.

Are you following the story where you should be going? I myself did not, I went all over the place because I love to explore. I would suggest maybe lowering the difficulty. You are honestly the only person I have heard complain about this.
