The rumors about a Diablo 2 remaster could indeed be true.
Diablo II fans heard the constant rumors about a remaster for the old action RPG from Blizzard. But how much of those rumors were just speculations? Now we do know that there is a Diablo 2 remaster and it will launch in Q4 2020. Here’s everything we know about the remaster.
The Remaster Will Be Called: Diablo 2 Resurrected
According to the French news outlet ActuGaming, a source close to the studio told them about the Diablo 2 remaster. They said the game would probably be called Diablo 2 Resurrected. Moreover, they also mentioned that the remaster will launch in Q4 2020, which means it’s going to be a late 2020 launch, probably right on time for the holidays. The source also noted the launch date for the remaster could be delayed due to the current situation.
ActuGaming has had a history of predicting correct information about Overwatch 2, Diablo 4 and WoW: Shadowlands, notes IGN.
The source delivering this information also suggested Blizzard is being supported by Vicarious Visions on the Diablo 2 Remaster.
If these details and the rumors so far turn out to be true, we should hear about this remaster in an official announcement from Blizzard before the launch date.
Maybe we could learn more about the Diablo II remaster at the Summer Game Fest or at the annual BlizzCon.
In 2017, Blizzard had a job listing for projects involving both Warcraft III and Diablo II ‘restoring.’ With Warcraft III: Reforged out of the way, it’s obviously the Diablo II remaster should be next in line. We can only hope that Diablo 2 Resurrected will exceed our expectations.
