CoolIT Systems Selected to Host Birds-of-a-Feather (BoF) Session at ISC 2015 in Frankfurt
CoolIT Systems BoF panel to discuss Planning for Liquid Cooling in the Data Center.
Calgary, AB. April 15, 2015 – CoolIT Systems, the world leader in Direct Contact Liquid Cooling (DCLC) solutions for high performance desktops, servers and data centers, has been selected to present a Birds-of-a-Feather (BoF) session titled ‘Planning for Liquid Cooling in the Data Center’ at the International Supercomputing Conference 2015 (ISC15) in Frankfurt, Germany on Monday 13th July from 3.30pm – 4.30pm.
This BoF session will bring together thought leaders, vendors, OEMs and academics to discuss the driving forces behind liquid cooled solutions for HPC users, the various types of liquid cooling technology available, plus the considerations and requirements when planning to integrate these solutions into the data center. The discussion will stem from the rising adoption rate of liquid cooling in HPC and then benefits experienced, to the need for the industry to develop standards for integration.
ISC 2015 BoF sessions provide a non-commercial, dynamic venue for conference attendees to openly discuss current topics of focused mutual interest within the HPC community with a strong emphasis on audience-driven discussion, professional networking and grassroots participation.
The ‘Planning for Liquid Cooling in the Data Center’ panel will consist of:
- Geoff Lyon, CEO & CTO at CoolIT Systems Inc.
- Dr. Ingmar Meijer, Senior Technologist at IBM Research Zurich
- Dr. Jon Summers, Senior Lecturer at Institute of Thermofluids, Leeds University
- Michael K Patterson, Senior Power/Thermal Architect at Intel
- Nicolas Dube, Distinguished Technologist at HP
- Peter Hopton, founder & CVO at Iceotope
- Tahir Cader, Distinguished Technologist at The Green Grid
“It is the responsibility of industry experts to collaborate and combine their efforts to lead the data center community to a better understanding of liquid cooling technology and integration while establishing best practices and setting standards”, said Geoff Lyon, CEO & CTO at CoolIT Systems. “A BoF session is the perfect platform to address this topic and I look forward to a rewarding discussion with our distinguished panelists as part of the ISC 2015 program.”

About ISC High Performance 2015
ISC High Performance, formerly known as ISC (the International Supercomputing Conference), is the world’s oldest and Europe’s foremost HPC conference. Its history dates back 30 years, when in 1986 the late Hans Werner Meuer, in his capacity as the director of the Mannheim Computing Center and professor for computer science, organized the world’s first “Supercomputer Seminar” at Mannheim University. In its inaugural year, it drew 81 attendees, mostly German-speaking. Today it is valued by over 2,600 international attendees as a “must attend” HPC event.
