AMD Ryzen 7 1700 Review

A Closer Look

At first glance, the new Ryzen CPU looks much the same as the outgoing Piledriver processors.

Ryzen utilized the same style pin grid array that we’ve seem for AMD for quite some time now. The new AM4 socket has 1331 pins versus the previous AM3+ socket that had 940 pins.

From left to right: Intel’s 2011-3 processor, AMD’s AM4 processor, Intel’s 1151 processor. Ryzen heatspreader is almost identical in size to Intel’s 2011-3 processors.
