Packaging & Unboxing
If you’ve seen one ASUS ROG product box in the last few years, you’ve seen them all. The Maximus X Apex is no different, coming in the signature red and black box with lots of subtle details.
The rear of the box has a picture of the board in the center, all lit up, with specs and features surrounding it.
The top of the box is all black with the slogan ‘The Choice of Champions’ in red.
The ends of the box have the model in the color shifting font and the ROG and ASUS logos.
Opening the box up, the sheet of ROG stickers is present. The color-coded cable labels live here now too.
The Maximus X Apex is fully visible under the clear protective cover in its own tray.
Under the motherboard tray, the four compartments hide all of the included extras and accessories.
Like most ROG boards, the pile of accessories is pretty immense. The typical manual, driver disk, Rear I/O Shield and SATA cables are here, but you also get the Dimm.2 module, Dimm.2 cooling fan bracket, the new OC Fan Bracket, the customizable nameplate blanks, and all the little bits like M.2 screws, ASUS’s Q-connector, and some RGB cables. To demonstrate the customizable nameplate feature, ASUS had one pre-made for us with the owner, Stan’s name on it.
ASUS has also partnered with CableMod to offer a 20% coupon good for a slick set of cables or extensions customized to your particular power supply and tastes.
