ASUS ROG Rampage VI Extreme LGA2066 X299 EATX Motherboard Review

Final Thoughts & Conclusion

This is the second of ASUS’s high-end X299 motherboards we have checked out recently. We were very impressed with the ROG Rampage VI Apex and didn’t think it could any better, but we were wrong. The Rampage VI Extreme takes that same premium bloodline and marries it to top-notch aesthetics. Power users who want to run the very best every single day have found their dreams come to life here.

The full complement of eight DIMM slots means you can cram 128GB of high-speed memory in right next to an eighteen core CPU, and hang up to four GPU’s below that for a zero-compromise machine. ASUS also hopped into the research lab and snagged some of tomorrow’s connectivity for today with 802.11AD ‘WiGig’ and 10 Gigabit Ethernet for a combined total of over 16.4Gbps total network connectivity between all 4 adapters. Couple this with the normal high-end connectivity like triple Turbo M.2 slots, Turbo U.2, USB 3.1 10Gbps, and even Thunderbolt 3 with an add-in card, you get the ability to move huge data sets around with ease.

The looks and lighting on this board are awesome, the connectivity is awesome, overclocking is epic, the features ‘list’ is more of a book than a list, The LiveDash OLED is neat and can display helpful info as well. Really, we can’t find anything this board CAN’T do, and we really can’t find a single negative thing to say. The $650 price tag is steep, but the best of the best is never found in the budget category.

Our Elite hardware award is not given out easily, but we really can’t think of any product more fitting to award it to. Great Job ASUS!
