Final Thoughts & Conclusion
The Ballistix Elite series has been one of our personal favorites since it’s launch, and the new speed ranges are a nice addition to a sleek and subtle family. Performance out of the box is great, and running 4000MHz effective at CAS 18 timings at 1.35V is really good and can run indefinitely even on lower-end CPU’s. Overclocking just didn’t go well for us with this kit. We tried different boards designed for extreme memory performance such as our standard Asus Apex series as well as an EVGA Z390 DARK, and a couple of different CPUs’ including an Intel Core i9-9900K but this particular sample just refused to cooperate above the 4200MHz mark. Your mileage may vary, but the infamous ‘silicone lottery’ applies to any chip, not just CPU’s and it seems we just didn’t win this one. That being said, we don’t really count this against Ballistix. The kit DID indeed overclock with a noticeable increase in performance, but most gamers just turn on XMP and go to town, and that worked perfectly for us on every board we tested.
Great job Ballistix!
