Be Quiet! Dark Rock Slim Air Cooler Review

Testing & Performance

We’ll start out testing our 9900K at stock, in an ambient temp of about 21C.

At full tilt, we see the clock speeds settle around the 4.1 GHz mark at 95W. This gives us an average temp of about 62C.

We’ll then crank the clock speeds up to 4.8 GHz on all cores manually.

This gives us about 160W of power into the cooler, and we see an average temp of around 15C warmer at 77C. instantaneous temp spikes hitting the 90C range occur, but the d overall average is quite acceptable for an overclocked 8-core CPU.

We also tried ramping the fan speed up to 100% manually. It makes a minor difference at stock, but the change is negligible under full load. The Silent Wings 3 fan stays virtually inaudible the entire time. Even at 100% speed, you have to put your ear next to it to pick up a dull whir.
