G.SKILL decided some time ago to branch out to the SSD market. Their SSD product have pretty much stayed under the radar, but G.SkILL apparently is looking to change all that with the Phoenix Blade PCIe SSD. Rated at 2000MB/s in both read and write, it is certainly fast. The Phoenix Blade is not a native PCIe, though it utilizes a PCIe 2.0 x8 interface. Instead, there are four SandForce SF-2282 controllers in RAID 0. Each SF-2282 controller is connected to eight 16GB Toshiba 64Gbit 19nm MLC NAND packages. Perhaps the most interesting feature on the Phoenix Blade is its endurance rating of 1536TB or 1.4TB per day. No, that isn’t a typo.
