A lot of reviewers would disapprove of testing a power supply on a loaded system but then there is no better way to test it in real world situations. While other sites have sophisticated methods that cost thousands of dollars in equipment for details correct to the decimals we use an equally trustworthy digital multimeter. While the methods that the other sites use put a power supply unit to its true perspective, what we think more important is, to show you its performance in real world conditions.
Testing rig specs:

RAM : 2GB Patriot Viper PC14000
Hard drives : Seagate 120GB HDD
Optical drives: HP DVD 740
Operating system : Windows XP Professional
Below is a small diagram of how the power supply performed under our grueling real world test conditions.
Compared to the recent past, the power supply units are getting quieter by the day and the Type R is a testament to that trend. There is virtually no noise when the system is idle and when the load was increased only the fan speed went up, not the noise. We were pleased.
