Samsung Galaxy A50 Review 2020

Samsung Galaxy A50 Review Best

The Galaxy A50 is a great mid-range smartphone at only $300

Samsung has had quite a success with its budget-friendly A series and has recently launched the A51, which is a sequel to the A50. The 2019 Samsung Galaxy A50 is not as cool as the Z Flip or the S20 smartphones, but now at $300, it gets in the top Android smartphones under $400 list, and it still is an excellent purchase in 2020.

Here is our Samsung Galaxy A50 Review to help you decide whether the A50 is the right choice for you. Let’s start with the pros and cons and then look at the specs and features before we reach a verdict.

Samsung Galaxy A50: Pros and Cons

+ Pros: great software (bloat-free), good cameras, solid performance, in-screen fingerprint scanner, headphone jack, long battery life, affordable

– Cons: mediocre speaker quality, low video resolution (1080p), bad camera performance in low-light conditions

Compared to what Samsung did with the J line, the Galaxy A line is much better, making the A50 one of the best mid-range smartphones on the market. It took Samsung a while to add some power in its budget phones, but with a competition we’ve seen with the likes of Redmi Note 7 Pro and Pocophone F1, they had to raise the bar.

Of course, looking at the specs above, we recommend the 6GB version since it allows you to play some games on your smartphone.

Samsung Galaxy A50 Design and Display

The body of this smartphone is lightweight (166 grams) since it’s completely made out of plastic (aside from the metallic central frame). The Galaxy A50 has a beautiful gradient pattern, but it is prone to scratches – which is why you’ll definitely need a good phone case.

When looking at the display, we’re pleasantly surprise the A50 comes with the 6.4 inch Super AMOLED Full HD+ display (2,340 x 1,080 resolution, 19.5:9 ratio). It adds great value to the mid-range smartphone since watching movies or videos is a great experience – you can easily stream HD content from Netflix.

You can tweak the colors from the settings menu, and with deep black levels and great viewing angles, the Galaxy A50 is a pleasure to use both in outdoors and indoors conditions. There’s also a U-notch at the top, in the middle, and you got the Always-on display option to let you see notifications.
