Sapphire Dual-X R9 285 OC Review

Final Thoughts and Conclusion

Sapphire did not try and re-invent the wheel with their version of the Radeon R9 285. The card is cosmetically almost identical to the R9 280 is replaces. Sapphire did swap the previous silver highlights for purple and change the PCB from blue to black. I think these changes are for a better. The changes are most then cosmetic though. The Dual-X R9 285 OC uses a completely new PCB. The switchable dual BIOS is a nice addition.

The Dual-X R9 285 OC out performed the Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 in almost every test I threw at it. It even managed to best the R9 280X on more then one occasion. As the drivers mature, the improvements should become even more pronounced. The Sapphire Dual-X R9 285 OC out overclocked the two other R9 285 cards we have already reviewed. Once overclocked, it was able to best the R9 280X in almost every benchmark.

The Sapphire Dual-X R9 285 OC can be found online for around $259. This is $10 more then a regular R9 285, but I think the extra accessories are worth it. Thank you to Sapphire for supplying the card in this review.
