Packaging & Unboxing

The front of the box is mostly black with a nice red accent on the top. We are introduced to what is in the package with a picture of the keyboard lit up. We can see that this keyboard is using the TTC Dust-Proof RGB switches in brown. At the bottom of the box, we can see the name branding as well.

Back of the box shows the same black packaging with the red accent at the top. We see another picture of the keyboard with some of the main features like media control, USB passthrough, examples of the 5 pre-configured lighting modes (FPS1, FPS2, MMO, MOBA, RTS). At the bottom right of the packaging, we see systems requirements as well as a QR code to scan to learn more about this product and Tt eSPORTS social media.

Both right and left sides of the packaging show the profile view of the keyboard with the name of the keyboard underneath it.

Where the lid opens shows the phrase “Professional Gaming Keyboard” in 16 different languages. On the right of this box, we see that this keyboard is Windows 10 capable as well as RoHS compliant. We also see the SKU barcodes.

Opening the packaging we see the keyboard, wrapped in a thin sheet of Styrofoam packaging, the 2 sides of the keyboard in thick Styrofoam to protect the edges during shipping as well as 8 different red keycaps for the keys Q,W,E,R,A,S,D and F. These are the keys mostly used in games and Tt eSPORTS wanted to give the ability to distinguish them quickly. Underneath that, we see a pamphlet for product information as well as warranty information.

Removing the keyboard from the package we see the included wrist rest as well as the keycap puller.

A closer look at the included accessories included with the keyboard.

A Closer Look

Taking the Neptune Elite RGB out of its packaging we are met with quality and craftsmanship. This keyboard has a great feel to it and weight. You can really tell that Tt eSPORTS really took their time in the decision what to add to this keyboard as well the features and the functions.

Let’s start with the top. Near the top left of the keyboard above the escape key, we see the Tt eSPORTS logo. Near that logo are 3 buttons, these are Game Mode, Brightness and a windows lock button. These are quick keys that will help change things on the fly. Nothing worse than in the heat of the moment and you accidentally hit the Windows key. Having a Windows lock key makes a lot of sense and being able to lock that key with 1 button makes even more.

Looking near the number keys, starting with number 7 we see the beginning of the programmable Macro keys. All of these keys are programmable within the software.

Moving over to the right side of the keyboard we see the multimedia keys as well as a volume scroll wheel. This is one of my favorite features on a keyboard. Being able to adjust the volume that quick and easy is sometimes one of the most used features on my keyboards. It is one of the things that I personally look for in a new keyboard.

Using the included keycap puller, I was able to pull the keycaps very easily and this exposed the TTC dust proof RGB mechanical switches. While keycaps were off, I install the included red keycaps.

Taking a look at the USB connectors. The Neptune comes with a thick braided cable as well as 2 gold-plated USB connectors. They are both not needed and come labeled which is handy. If you want to use the included USB passthrough on the back of the keyboard you will need to use both USB connectors.

Taking a look at the side profile angle of the keyboard, we can see the floating keycap design. This adds a nice comfortable touch to the keyboard. Also, we have another angle of the media scroll wheel and the multimedia keys.

Flipping the keyboard over we can see the adjustable feet to help with the angle of the keyboard, the rubber pads on the feet to help with sliding on a smooth surface and the item sticker in the middle of the keyboard. The adjustable feet have 3 positions to choose from, flat or no angle, a small short angle, and a 3rd larger foot to help raise the back of the keyboard higher. It is your preference on how you like your keyboard to sit, and I like that there are multiple options available.

Let’s take a look at the included wrist rest. This is an optional piece and strictly based upon user preference. It has 2 clips that attach to the front of the keyboard. On the bottom of the wrist rest, we see 2 additional rubber feet to help with grip on smooth surfaces.

Software

Upon plugging in the keyboard, the default setting of the RGB is to cycle through the colors, one after the other. I downloaded the Tt eSPORTS gaming software 3.0 off of the ttesports.com website and after installing the software, plugged the keyboard in. Immediately the software prompts me to select the language of my preference and below that gives me the option to check out Tt eSPORTS website and Facebook page. Below that the software has found my device plugged in and gives me the option to search for updates if there are any.

Here we see the profile screen. This is the start of creating a new profile for your keyboard. In this screen, you can change the lighting, macros and customize each and every key to do what you would like. You can give it a new name, import or export a custom profile. There are multiple lighting effects as well.

Let’s take a look at the lighting screen and see the different options we have.

Static- One solid color, throughout the entire keyboard.

Pulse- One solid color, that turns on and off, you can control how fast the lights turn on and off.

Wave- One solid color, with lights traveling either left to right, can control how fast this moves.

Spectrum Cycling- All colors slowly transitioning into the next. Can control the speed of the transitions.

Spiral Rainbow-Colors light up on the keyboard in a spiral pattern, can control the speed of the spiral.

Sine Wave- A nice waving pattern is displayed.

Snake Marquee- Like the classic game, starts from the top of the keyboard and travels down the keyboard rows in a single line pattern.

Aura- Looks similar to a shooting star, each row does its own pattern.

Stars- Random keys light up like twinkling stars.

Rain- Rain gives the effect of raindrops, starting from the top row of keys and traveling down in random places.

Off-No lights displayed

Customize- Can create your own pattern.

The next tab under the lighting tab is the Customize tab. This tab is to customize the function of each key based on your preferences.

Under the drop menu is the following:

Keyboard Key- Can choose to apply what key does what.

Mouse Key- Can set to be a mouse click, left click, center, or right click.

Mouse Wheel- Can set the key to scroll up or scroll down.

Rapid Fire- Can set the key to rapid fire in m/s and number of clicks.

Multimedia- Can set a multimedia key. Play, pause, stop, next, previous. etc

System- Can set to the following, Wake, Sleep, Reset.

Macro- Can set this to be any sort of macro key that you program.

Next section is the Marco key section. Can set any of the keys to become a macro key. Pressing them does any sort of function that you program.

Final Thoughts & Conclusion

Whether you are looking for quiet mechanical switches for the late-night gaming sessions while the family is asleep, multimedia keys for quick on the fly song changes or volume changes, 16.8mil choices due to the full array of RGB on the keyboard or a detachable wrist rest for the extra comfort; the Tt eSPORTS Neptune Elite RGB maybe the next keyboard for you. I caught myself using this keyboard with the wrist rest attached and got lost in multiple games of Battlefield V. The added wrist rest offered a lot of comfort for hours of gameplay. I never ran into any issues with the keyboard and can thank the anti-ghosting for that. The LEDs on this keyboard are very bright, and being able to control them within the software is very helpful.  We are very impressed with the quality and craftsmanship off this keyboard and we think you will be as well.
