Tuniq Ripper 1000 Watt Power Supply

Closer look

If you are in the market for an attractive black power supply, look at the Ripper. The finish is rather smooth and subtle. Tuniq did not over do it on the cosmetics of the Ripper. Well, Tuniq never over does it. Take a look at their cases and coolers and you will see just what I mean. Besides the color, there are other characteristics of the Ripper line that we must tell you about. First of all, the line consists of two models: 850 and 1000. Both have very impressive numbers across all rails. Impressive enough for each to be Nvidia certified for SLI.

One of the bigger benefits of the Ripper is the larger than normal 140m cooling fan. The fan is controlled via your system and load as it will automatically spin faster as you put more of a load on the system. We found the fan was pretty quiet at all operating level. And when it comes to system shutdown the fan will spin up to another two minutes after system is off to keep the internal of the power supply in optimal operation.

The Ripper regardless of what Tuniq’s overview says is not modular. Surprised? Yes, we were also. It is pretty uncommon for us to see a non-modular power supply at this wattage level. The last of the models I have personally came across was from PC Power & Cooling. But continueing on the Ripper is permanently attached cabling that is nicely sleeved in black web.
