The first thing that I would like to point out about the Vantec NexStar SE is the fact that it will support any thickness 2.5″ drive currently out there, including the Western Digital Velociraptor (with the heat shield removed). A lot of people out there don’t realize that larger capacity(640+GB) 2.5″ drives can be 12mm thick, compared to the thinner standard of 9.5mm.
Another feature of the NexStar we like was the fact that it used a 5.25” bay instead of the 3.5”. The reason being is we normally have many of the larger bays leftover after a build. This leaves it so the smaller bay can be used for front mount USB hubs or fan controllers.
But we know most people will be looking at the NexStar SE due to be able to easily add two addition drives to their system rather than have dive inside the computer to install it, especially if it’s to only nab a small bit of data off the drive. Whatever that reason may be where you are needing to connect more drive, Vantec has put out another quality product to aid the techie in whatever adventures he or she may partake in.
