Final Thoughts and Conclusion
Overall the Vantec 7.1 Channel PCIe Sound Card is a breeze to install and use. Windows 7 picked up the card and installed the necessary drivers without any interaction or separate software installation. Sound quality was great from each channel when sued for gaming, movies and music, however a lot of that has to do with your speaker system as well. I don’t understand the use of a separate cable for the main audio outputs rather than just putting the jacks on the PCB but for the price you really can’t complain.
The bottom line is if you want 7.1 surround sound but your motherboard doesn’t support it this will let you have it for an affordable price. What is that price you may ask? Well it retails for $39.99 but can be found over at Amazon.com for $36.99 at the time of this writing. If you need an inexpensive surround sound card for your home theater or media PC this is it.
