Xigmatek Thor’s Hammer CPU Cooler

overviewThe cooler was the Xigmatek Thor’s Hammer. The Hammer is one of those coolers that when you first see it you could not but think how does this thing compete with the big boys like the Coolermaster V8 and Thermalright T.R.U.E. Well that is what I thought anyways. And to think about how well the HDT-S1283 has done at a budget price you would think this monster would be a Top Ten cooler killer. The Hammer is based on the Heat pipe Direct Touch, or HDT for short, technology. To explain this in a brief sentence, the heat pipes come in direct contact with the IHS of the processor for more direct cooling. We will get more into that later in the review. So, you have to read a little more to see what this cooler and HDT is all about.

large overview

Introduction

At this year’s CES I was walking around the upper deck looking for the entrance to the exhibit halls I glanced over to my right and I saw a good friend of mine, Olin from Benchmark Reviews. He was sitting with a gentleman I did not know. So, I figured I would go over and say ‘hi’ to my good friend before my trip to the exhibit floor. As I greeted Olin and this gentleman I notice this sweet CPU cooler sitting on the table in front of them. The cooler was awesome and extreme at the same time. Immediately, I had to introduce myself to this gentleman so I can get my myself one of these coolers. The gentlemen was Antonio from Xigmatek. He was pretty cool, gave me a business card and begun to walk to floor before we got separated. A few months after we have that cooler here in our lab today.
