Closer look

The NotePal I300 measurements and weight are one that would make this new product easy to carry around and travel with. It weighs a mere 1.8 pounds. With dimensions of 14.6” width and 10.6” tall the cooler should be more than adequate to cool the larger 17” laptops on the market. The height of the cooler range from 1.4” to 2.1” depending on the adjustments you make to better satisfy your viewing.

Cooler Master NotePal i300 overview

The I300 is all black with the surface made of mostly mesh and the sides made of plastic and the bottom and movable parts made of plastic. Even with the size and weight being what that are the cooler is still pretty sturdy. I wouldn’t say strong but sturdy.

In the image below we can see really how minimalistic the design really is. The entire upper layer of the I300 is all metal mesh with just the CM logo sitting in the lower right corner. You can almost get a view of the fan sitting underneath which we will talk about next.

Flipping the cooler over, we see where all the plastic comes in. the entire length is plastic which protects the internal of the cooler. What is missing for this model compared to all the others that CM has sent us is a cable management channel to better route the USB cable when and when not in use.

The surface of the cooler also acts as a fan guard for the 160mm cooling fan. The fan is rated at 1400 RPM, pushing 70CFM of air with a noise level of 21 dBA. There are no adjustments that can be made to the fan to make it run slower or faster.

Air produced by the fan is pushed out the top of the cooler and never towards the user via vents at the top of the cooler.

Lastly, the cooler gets its power from a USB pass-thru adapter connected to the laptop.

Conclusion

The Cooler Master NotePal I300 gives you two great functions. The first is its cooling performance and the second is the adjustable height. How well does it perform each? In our opinion as well as testing we saw that both were fully accomplished. The laptop CPU ran approximately 3-5 degrees cooler depending on the activity and the GPU was an incredible 7 degree cooler while gaming. And speaking of gaming the whole experience was better with the increased height of the laptop after the height was adjusted and these was compared to not using the cooler at all.
