A Closer Look
The tubing on the Captain 240 EX swivels on the pump housing to allow easier installation.
Once removed from the box, we see how unique the Captain 240 EX is. Although the radiator is like many others, the rest of the cooler is where the differences are. The tubing is soft, flexible, and covered by nylon braiding. The ends of the tubing are metal clamps that attach to the barbs on both the radiator and the custom pump housing. The new style rubber tubing is anti-explosion, anti-corrosion, and crush resistance.
The Tubing has an outer diameter of about 12mm.
The radiator measures 274 mm in length and 27 mm in thickness. When the fans are installed on the radiator, the full thickness is about 53mm thick. This should allow the Captain 240 EX to be installed in just about any full or mid tower. The fins on the radiator are rather dense and close together, making this the perfect radiator for low speed fans and the high static pressure of the TF120s that are shipped with the cooler.

The Captain 240 EX comes with 2 Deep Cool TF120 fans and a PWM fan hub with 4 connections.
The fans attach to the radiator with long, threaded screws.
The radiator with the fans installed measures about 53 mm thick.
The most unique part of the Captain 240 EX is by far the pump housing and block combo. It’s unlike any other pump housing on any other AIO cooler on the market. This is due to its “Steam Punk” design and red glass circulation tube. The pump works like so. The coolant enters the pump through the top. It then gets pumped through the glass tube into the bottom chamber. In the bottom chamber, it gets spread over the cold plate, through the fins and back out to the radiator.
The cold plate come with pre-applied thermal paste.
The Cold plate is made from copper.
The cold plate has an extremely high-density water microchannel with a powerful, self-governed circulation system. This upgraded cooling system is about 10% more efficient at water dissipation than previous generations. The pump has a new three-phase motor built into the powerful closed impeller. This allows for stronger flow and larger head delivery.
The top of the pump is a breathing, red LED light.
The “Visual AIO” portion of the pump is a red glass tube.
The front of the pump housing has the Gamer Storm logo on it.
The pump has a 3 pin PWN connection on a braided cable.
Both the intake and out take of the pump swivel to allow for easier installation.
The fans have rubber corners to prevent vibration while in use.
The Deep Cool Captain 240 EX Comes with 2 Deep Cool TF120 fans. The TF120s are great as either case fans or for use on radiators. These fans have a dual layer blade design. The unique blade configuration to offer high static air pressure. The channelized frame to reduce the noise made by airflow. They have fluid dynamic bearings and a fan speed of 500-1800 RPM. These fans are rated at about 100,000 hours of use. They run near silent. Depending on the speed they are set at, they run between 17 and 31 decibels. The rubber mounts in the corners do an excellent job reducing vibration, and in turn, operation noise at the same time. The added fan hub is a great touch, especially for more budget related boards with fewer fan headers.
