Closer look
The Mobile Fan 12 mainly of a single 120x120x25 mm computer fan, which can be adjusted between 800 to 1500 RPM via the little knob on the corner of the device. Thermaltake kept the numbers moderate with this product since it is something that could used for various purposes, as such they did not want noise to interfere with say, your daily computing. Noise is rated at a maximum of 33.5 dBA while producing 66.5 CFM of air flow.

For stability the Mobile Fan 12 is held upright by a simple metal stand. Also made of metal are the fan guards which are attached to both sides of the fan to protect your little fingers from harm. (Editor's Note: If you are like me and have been tinkering with computers long enough, you have no doubt been bitten by a fan once or twice!) The Mobile Fan 12 get it's power through the retractable USB cable, and with a press of the button will retract up all of it's approx. two foot long cord.

Purposes and Conclusion

I found that the Thermaltake Mobile Fan 12 can be useful for tasks other than those Thermaltake indicated. While Yes, it is meant to be used on a desktop surface, for example to blow across your keyboard to help keep your fingers from sweating, but I found another helpful use for it. In a few benching sessions when I was trying to squeeze out a higher overclocked and required feeding more voltage, I used it to blow across my ram and other motherboard components.

In conclusion, I don’t see everyone running out to get the Mobile Fan 12, as it is really not a must have item, even though it may come in handy from time to time when you need that extra little bit of cooling. It is the price that will set you back $24.99 that I feel might keep it from being that "impulse buy" a lot of folks might make.

A big "Thanks" to Ransom and Thermaltake for sending over the Mobile Fan 12 for us to take a look at!
