When looking for a mechanical keyboard, you are often overwhelmed with a wide range of choices in features and switch type. There’s a lot of people who are just looking for a quality mechanical keyboard that is RGB backlit and really don’t know the differences between all the switches. It’s these people that Cooler Master hopes to help with its newest keyboard additions: the CK550 and CK552. Both of these keyboards feature a minimalistic design, a curved aluminum top, floating keys, Gateron switches and on-the-fly RGB controls. For this review we will be looking at the CK552, which has an MSRP of $79.99 and is exclusively available at BestBuy and Staples. Its counterpart, the CK550 MSRP’s, is $10 more at $89.99 and is available via Amazon and NewEgg. The only difference between the two keyboards is the color and texture of the top plate.
About Cooler Master
Back in 1992, when the internet was in its early stages and CPU’s were measured in MHz rather than GHz, a company called ORYX was born. ORYX later became Cooler Master, which we know the company as today. Started by a rogue product manager who had no funding and no support except a single administrative secretary, he set out to create, innovate and improve products for the PC industry. Starting with its first product, a Socket 7 CPU heat sink in 1993, their product line has since grown to cases, peripherals, fans, and much more. Over the past 25+ years they brought many advancements and firsts to the PC industry (such as the first all copper heat sink) and today, they continue to innovate by bringing new and exciting products to market.
