A Closer Look

Viper uses a US Standard 103-key layout on the V765. The keyboard is quite compact for a full-size 10-key equipped plank. And sneaks in a few dedicated media keys and the ever-popular volume wheel along the top.

There isn't much to see on the bottom, just the sticker giving you the model number and electrical requirements (which are pretty typical for USB).

There are two flip-out riser feet, one in each rear corner.

The feet give it an extra few degrees inclination for ergonomic reasons.

The keyboard is slightly wedge-shaped and sits at a slight incline anyway.

Connectivity is through a non-detachable 1.8M long braided and gold-plated USB 2.0 Type-A cable.

Viper uses a Kailh box switch. This is a Cherry-compatible switch that features improved IP56 resistance against dust and moisture. It also features a slightly reduced 1.8mm actuation distance out of 3.6mm of total travel for rapid-fire input in speed sensitive games. The switch itself is a tactile and clicky, similar to a Cherry MX Blue switch with a 50-gram actuation force and an 80,000,000 cycle lifespan.

Each switch also has its own RGB LED.

The silver metal backplate really splashes the color around for a clear outline of each key. The wrist reset attaches magnetically, just get it close and it snaps perfectly into place. We really prefer this over the normal mechanical latches that get broken easily.

Each end has a small accent strip that can run its own independent lighting effect.

The top edge has dedicated media buttons. The ‘Stop’ button has a small indentation to help locate by feel.

If you add it all up, it makes for a great looking keyboard!
