Final Thoughts & Conclusion

ASUS ROG Maximus XI Formula Z390

ASUS’s Maximus XI Formula is what every premium motherboard strives to be. Absolutely jam-packed with every feature you can imagine and cooled by the best in the industry just finished off support for the latest hardware. We’ve really liked the Formula boards of the previous generations quite a bit, but they were all just a tiny bit off somehow. The former Maximus X Formula had a water block that was difficult to get large fittings to seal on thanks to some misplaced EK badges, but that minor issue doesn’t show up here. The entire board just feels polished to perfection. If we HAD to pick out a con somewhere, the onboard lighting would have to be it. It looks incredible, but we wished it was a little brighter so you could see it outside of a dark case interior.

Performance wise, it’s exactly what you’ve come to expect from the ROG series. Gaming performance was chart topping and everything else did exceptionally. Thermal performance of the VRM was great just on air-cooling, running noticeably cooler than last years Z370 based model. Getting a loop up and running did drop it a few degrees, but it likely will only be of much help if you are chasing benchmarking records. If tinkering around for hours for every single benchmark point is not your forte, ASUS’s Ai takes care of the hard work for you. Just tell it what you want to do and it makes it happen, no questions, no fuss, it just works.

Epic Job ASUS!
