Final Thoughts and Conclusion
The Gigabyte overclocking boards have an outstanding reputation for results. Time and time again, records have been broken with these motherboards. There is no doubting the overclocking ability of the X99-SOC Force. A stable 4600 MHz clock on the i7 5280K proves that. With a bit more aggressive cooling via dry ice, I was easily able to reach 5200 MHz. Liquid nitrogen would push these clocks even further.
Overclocks alone do not make a great motherboard; it needs a great design and feature set to go with those clocks. This is where the motherboard really shines. The layout is logically thought out. Not a single header, port, switch, or jack seems to be improperly placed. The included software also features a great design and is completely relevant to how the board might be used.
Throughout the testing the X99-SOC Force showed average to above average scores time for the most part. The memory scores did seem a bit low; this didn't appear noticeable during normal use. With that exception, there is little to fault when it comes to performance.
The Gigabyte X99-SOC Force is commonly found as low as $349.99. This a fair price for a motherboard of the caliber.
