Gigabyte has dropped quite a few breathe taking motherboards in the last couple of years. First the redesigned their Gaming line when Z170 was released. Then there were quite a few eye catching X99 designs. More recently they release their new Aorus line. Even after all of that, Gigabyte still had an even more unique design, the Designare series. The Designare series was first released on the X99 and Z170 motherboards. Both gathered much attention, especially the X99-Designare EX. Now comes their newest entry, the Z270X-Designare.
The Gigabyte Z270X-Designare is cosmetically quite a bit different than any of their other offers. In a first for Gigabyte, they went with an all silver color scheme. Currently, only MSI is offering a similar motherboard, though in a much higher price range. Gigabyte didn’t just stop at creating an all silver motherboard though. They took it further and added their RGB fusion lighting, allowing customizable lighting to match the distinct looks.
The Z270X-Designare is well equipped too. There is support for both 6th and 7th Generation Intel Core processors. The four DDR4 dual channel memory slots can handle up to 164GB and at speeds up to 4133Mhz and beyond. There’s dual Intel U.2 connectivity with transfer speeds up to 32 Gb/s. Eight SATA ports offer even more storage options. A total of four rear USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type- A ports are complimented with additional USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A Type-C ports and multiple mid-board USB headers.
Both two-way Nvidia GeForce SLI and three-way AMD CrossFireX configurations are supported. Networking is supplies by Intel with cFosSpeed. Audio is supplied via ALC 1220 120dB SNR HD Audio and High-End Audio Capacitors. There’s also an USB DAC-UP 2 with Adjustable Voltage. Like all Z270 motherboards, Intel Optane memory is supported.

Smart Fan 5
With Smart Fan 5 users can ensure that their gaming PC can maintain its performance while staying cool. Smart Fan 5 allows users to interchange their fan headers to reflect different thermal sensors at different locations on the motherboard. Not only that, with Smart Fan 5 more hybrid fan headers that support both PWM and Voltage mode fans have been introduced to make the motherboard more liquid cooling friendly.
Enhanced BIOS Interface
The enhanced BIOS interface also has the advanced features seen in the Smart Fan 5 UI, such as: the ability to set triggers based on different temperature sensors on the board, fan curve definition and the temperature interval setting, which can prevent fan rotation noise caused by sudden temperature change—all without having to load Windows.
Front USB 3.1 Gen 2 Header
Equipped with next generation connectivity onboard Gigabyte Motherboards already support the cases of the future. Onboard headers for USB 3.1 makes access convenient when connecting a USB 3.1 drive or charging your new mobile device.
