Final Thoughts & Conclusion
All in all, we were impressed with the MSI X299 Tomahawk Arctic from the moment we opened the box. The gorgeous silver and white color scheme is in a league of its own and is a refreshing change from the sea of dark colored motherboards out there. WE really enjoyed that the board makes efforts to look good on its own, and doesn’t rely on a plethora of RGB gimmicks to look good, but it does have enough RGB lights on board as well as headers if you do like that route on a build.
Our initial good impression didn’t deteriorate as we started testing the board either. The Tomahawk Arctic was able to take first place in most of our testing and the few times it didn’t, it was only a fraction of a percent from doing so. MSI has also put significant effort into optimizing the memory for maximum performance, and it shows. Even at stock XMP speeds, we scored up to 10% better in all of our memory related benchmarks than other test systems equipped with this exact same CPU and memory kit.
For stand out looks, battlefield dominating performance and front-line worthy features, all for a weekend warrior friendly street price of $280, we easily award the MSI X299 Tomahawk our Highly Recommended award. Great Job MSI!
