A Closer Look
“Vantec introduces the USB 3.0 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter bringing you gigabit ethernet through your USB port. With the ease through a single USB connection, you can gain gigabit network speeds of up to 1000Mbps. This is a convenient solution for systems such as Ultrabooks or Macbook Airs that do not already have a RJ-45 connector. Bring gigabit ethernet to your system with the Vantec USB 3.0 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter.”
The Vantec USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter is comprised of a plastic enclosure with an anodized brushed aluminum top plate.
Vantec chose to place the RJ45 jack on the end, inline with the USB cable. This is a smart design for a single jack setup as it allows the cables to route better on the desktop.
Looking at the back of the adapter, we can see a sticker containing the MAC address, and the units model and serial numbers.
This USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet adapter is quite small, and its construction feels very high-quality despite its mostly plastic housing. The USB cable is not too long nor too short, and it is thick enough that you do not have to worry about it hanging off the side of your laptop. With the basics covered, lets move on to the testing portion of the review.
