After applying a few settings in the BIOS, such as turning the storage controller from AHCI to RAID mode and enabling PCIe storage remapping under Intel Rapid Storage Technology, everything was ready to go after running the Optane Utility. This can also be accessed from the Intel Rapid Storage Suite as well.
We downloaded the latest Intel Optane Memory software directly from Intel.
The setup process walks you through everything in an easy manner. We had 2 Optane modules installed at this point, and older 32GB module as shown, and the new 800P 118GB Module. Only one can be used for caching, we selected it here.
Next, you acknowledge that turning on Optane memory will erase anything currently on the Optane module (but NOT your main drive).
Under a minute later, we were asked to reboot to finish.
And that’s it, our 118GB 800P drive is now concatenated with our SATA SSD.
