Unboxing & A Closer Look
iStorage’s diskAshur2 comes in a small white box with a picture of the drive on the front. You also get a small description of the protection this drive offers.
The back of the box is entirely covered in features in multiple languages.
One side of the box shows the color and capacity. You get a UPC and serial barcode as well.
The other end of the box shows what’s included, as well as all the different devices and platforms you can use.
Inside is a rather nondescript white box.
Inside is the drive, wrapped in bubble wrap.
Under it is some paperwork like a warranty booklet, a quick start guides and two pamphlets for included free software for ESET Drive Security and Nero BackItUp. These are not required in the least, just offered as a courtesy to ensure your protected data includes everything you want and nothing you don’t.
Under the bubble wrap is actually the carry case for the drive. The case is semi-hard sided and very robust. It unzips and includes a wrist strap.
The diskAshur2 is actually shipped inside its own protective case, and then inside of bubble wrap, and then inside of the internal tray in the box.
The diskAshur2 is pretty small, similar to many portable hard drives. The exterior is a nice matte and soft touch that affords plenty of grip. The buttons are epoxy coated for extreme durability. Tens of thousands or presses later, you’ll still be able to read them.
The back label shows the capacity, 2TB in our case, as well as a link to the website and some required regulatory information.
The drive connects to your devices through the permanently attached USB 3.0 type-A cable that tucks into the side of the case.
The cable is pretty short, only a couple of inches long. This can be a pro or a con depending on what your particular needs are.
