Final Thoughts & Conclusion
With an MSRP of $155, the OCZ RC100 comes it around the price of a premium SATA SSD but certainly not the cheapest PCIe based SSD out there. It IS, however, one of the smallest and offers great performance. Toshiba’s single-chip solution eschews a local DRAM cache and borrows a tiny bit of system memory, and this seems to work really well. You really only see a negative effect with sustained heavy writes, but it only drops about 10% of its performance which is only noticeable on synthetic benchmarks, not in real-world use. If you need a compact drive at a fair price that backs some serious performance, look no further.
Great job Toshiba!
