A Closer Look
Now that the ASUS TUF Gaming X3 RX 5700 has been released from its packaging, we get our first hands-on look at the GPU. It follows a similar look as other TUF hardware we have looked at with an army-like design and a black/grey color scheme. We like that the TUF Gaming X3 RX 5700 excluded the TUF yellow that other TUF components have had, making the GPU easier to match non-TUF builds.
Taking a look at the fans, the TUF Gaming X3 RX 5700 includes a custom triple-fan cooler with each fan being 75mm in size and consisting of 9 blades. To carry on the TUF aesthetic, each fan either has a silver TUF Gaming logo or “ASUS” writing in the center.
Turing the RX 5700 to its side, we find that it requires both a 6pin and 8pin PCIe power connectors and includes a small RGB strip on the left of the card. Beside the RGB strip, the TUF theme is continued with a silver TUF Gaming logo as well as some added more silver accents toward the right.
Moving to the ASUS TUF Gaming X3 RX 5700’s aluminum backplate, the army-design we seen on the front is carried on to the back. It also contains some subtle TUF/ASUS branding that is written in back on both sides on the backplate.
The TUF Gaming X3 RX 5700 comes with three DisplayPort 1.4 connectors and a single HDMI connector. We like that ASUS went the extra mile and blacked out the I/O plate so that It better matches the aesthetics of the card.
Once we installed the ASUS TUF Gaming X3 RX 5700, its single RGB lit up with a nice blue/purple gradient.
