Final Thoughts & Conclusion

MSI’s Gaming X Trio line has always been a high performance and feature-rich card and the ante has been raised even higher with the update to Nvidia’s RTX line. Pictures really don’t do MSI justice here, the wave-curved heatsink looks amazing under the TORX fans, and the brushed backplate and is icing on a rather delicious cake. The Mystic Light system looks great and features rich colors without going too over the top as many RGB devices can do these days.

Performance was slightly elevated over the ‘reference’ RTX 2080 design thanks to MSI’s custom PCB and powerful cooling. Noise is non-existent with fans that don’t run until needed and the wave-curved heatsink does seem to provide less noise when the fans do run.  The card is quite heavy and feels solid, so we really appreciate that MSI bundles a support brace in the package and that it matches.

Great job MSI!
