Sapphire Radeon HD 6750The Radeon HD 6750 from Sapphire specifications is identical to those of the reference design which would be a 700MHz core clock on 1150MHz memory clock. The unit has 716 million transistors, 36 texture units and 720 stream processors. With such specifications the unit should make for a pretty decent but lower end gaming machine.

Introduction to the Sapphire Radeon HD 6750

Today, we will be taking a look at a new AMD creation which would lie between the Turks and the Barts chipsets. The Radeon HD 6750 from launch partner Sapphire I s based heavily on the previous Juniper chipset. Even so, the card fills a gap between the latest two mentioned in the first sentence especially for OEM builders.

Closer look

The Sapphire Radeon HD 6750 comes in two different favors just like the older HD 5750 did which would be a 512MB and a 1GB both based on GDDR5 models. But one advantage the newer model has over the older brethren would the HDMI 1.4a compliance. Which would become handy in a HTPC rig but the card is aimed at the moderate gamer. For those looking at HTPC GPUs would be better off looking at the Turks video cards like the 6570 and 6670.

The Radeon HD 6750 uses an 80mm and a plastic shroud to keep the GPU and surround components cool. The fan blows over an aluminum heat sink with a solid copper core. The cooler pushes the air out in the interior of the case using the case’s own air circulation to push any heat made by the GPU out of the case.

The card is build upon an all blue PCB and relatively short in size making it ideal for small form factor as well as larger case builds. Evidence of the power the card has can be seen visual as the card does require a 6-pin power connection to the power supply. AMD does require at least a 450 watt for a single card and 600 watts for Crossfire configurations.

There are a total of two Crossfire connectors which would lead us to conclude the card can be used in a triple Crossfire. We believe just one would be enough as one would probably spend the extra funds needed to get a single card solution. But to each his own.

The card packs enough connections to support AMD’s Eyefinity technology which would require at least one DisplayPort monitor or an active adapter. There are two DVI-D, one HDMI and one DisplayPort.

Conclusion

The Sapphire Radeon HD 6750 is a too speedy card for those that need an upgrage from using onboard graphics or for those that purchased machines from the likes of Dell, HP and Sony and want to up the graphic output of their system. Granted the card is not as fast as some of the latest ones we have tested but it proved to be okay at playing some of today's games at decent settings. The length of the card is ideal for those that want to build a nice smaller form factor system to be able to carry around to different LAN parties.

As of release of this article the EGG has the SApphire Radeon HD 1GB model for $105.99 plus 7.98 shipping.
