Offering both value and quality Cooler Master is known for exceptional hardware at a more than fair price. We are taking a look at one of their Mid-Tower chassis today, the MasterBox Pro 5 RGB with 3 RGB fans preinstalled; Cooler Master went with the 3 fans behind the black mirrored front to stash the fans behind. The front is easily removable and this puppy is so versatile you can go any build direction you want. It will take a 120mm, 240mm, 280mm, and 360mm radiator water cooling setup you can gaze at through a 4mm tempered glass side. Wiring this thing has more well-planned pigeon holes that we even care to count. We would run a wire to the area where it needed to be and exactly at that spot was a pigeonhole that perfectly fit the connector we needed to run.
“Back to where ROG began” – the thought process that created an iconic brand was used to bring the very best features, performance, and innovative features to a new platform. The name? Apex – the pinnacle of computer performance and overclocking. “The new ROG Maximus IX Apex delivers bold design and unparalleled power, hearkening back to the origins of the brand. With an optimized layout and radical aesthetics, the Apex is engineered to smash performance boundaries and to look good while doing it. That makes it the perfect motherboard for overclocking addicts who push their system to the limits, or for enthusiasts who want to build a showcase gaming rig!”
A couple years back Intel and Micron introduced us to 3D XPoint memory at a press conference. The claims made about this new type of memory used in the Intel Optane SSD 900P 480GB were eye popping and frankly, at the time, almost unbelievable. By now Optane memory is old news and we all know that a small Optane memory chip can give platter drives new lives and increase system storage speed drastically. Optane is so new it literally exists in its own new category and was expected to run at approximately 3x the price of regular NVMe NAND flash drives. We are pleased to find that instead of the 3x price expected the Intel Optane SSD 900P 480GB comes in at a more consumer friendly $0.86 per GB of storage closer to 2x the price of NVMe drives.
If you aren’t deep into the overclocking scene, the name Nick Shih might not mean anything to you, but if you poke around many of the CPU benchmarking record charts online you’ll often see the handle ‘nickshih’ on the front page. The Brainchild of ASRock’s OC Formula lineup, Nick knows what it takes to break records and ASRock brings that to Intel’s X299 platform with the X299 OC Formula.
Razer has crossed the line from strictly mechanical keyboards and went to the dark side and produced a couple of membrane keyboards the Razer Cynosa which we have in for review and the Razer Cynosa Pro which has an under glow and a wrist pad that the less expensive regular Cynosa doesn’t get. Both the Cynosa and Pro are aimed at the budget gaming community with a current price of $59.99 and a few cut rate sites have it slightly lower. For that $59.99 you get 16.8 million colors, per key programmability, on the fly macro recording, spill resistance and a slew of cool Chroma effects but you will need Synapse 3 (currently Beta 3) and you get a full featured RGB Chroma experience.
Cooler Master is well known for their affordable high-quality products and when others seek to maximize profit Cooler Master steadfastly maintains high-quality affordable products for the everyday person. In this case, they sent us the Cooler Master MasterWatt 750 Watt Semi-Fanless 80 PLUS Bronze PSU to review and we’ve seen it peek its head out at $79.99 which is a tough price point to fight for with many selections at 750W and in that same price point bracket. Often non-nerds overlook the need for a high-quality dependable PSU and end up with something on sale to save a few bucks but power supplies are probably the last place you should worry about scrimping on money. It is essential that the heart of your machine (the PSU) is high quality, dependable and sufficient size. Pick too small a PSU or the on sale $19 off brand low-quality PSU and you stand the chance of frying all that expensive hardware for the lack of a few bucks on a well chosen PSU.
E'nod Mini Ring - True Wireless Headphones
The E'nod Mini Ring is another contender in the rapidly expanding true wireless headphone market. This pair of true wireless rechargeable earpods are based upon Bluetooth 4.2 technology. Paired with a rechargeable 500mAh charging case and a Nano coating which provides an IP4 resistance rating, the Mini Ring is designed with the active lifestyle user in mind. Currently, it is a great time to start considering making the jump over to a true wireless earpod. As the market floods with new device options premium prices for the technology begin to decline, buyers can start to get well made products at lower prices. The E'nod Mini Ring comes with a price point of $79.99 USD. With so many similar devices on the market, I feel quality control will be possibly the main deciding factor when choosing the Mini Ring, let's see how the device holds up. Thanks for choosing Proclockers.com.
CPU’s are getting faster and sporting more cores than ever and as that happens the need for increased cooling capacity increases. Large bulky air coolers with multiple fans towering over your CPU and filling a large part of your chassis are an option but All In One water-cooling is fast becoming mainstream. Typically they are easy to install, zero maintenance and outperform air cooling. The prices on the AIO coolers have dropped as demand has gone up and even the RGB AIO’s have gotten to a reasonable price point. Cooler Master sent us their MasterLiquid ML120L and ML240L RGB AIO water-coolers to take a gander at.
When it comes to choosing the perfect low budget gaming mouse there are a myriad of choices available to the casual and dedicated gamer. The gaming market is currently flooded with mice in every conceivable price range with an equally variable feature set. However, as anyone who has tried to select a low-budget peripheral has found, it is often extremely difficult to find an economical mouse that isn’t entirely terrible to use. Whether it’s a flimsy cord, poor response/lag, or just an overall cheap feel, it seems like there is always an issue with these low-end devices. Of course, we all know that you get what you pay for, but sometimes you can be lucky enough to get a quality piece of hardware at a wallet-friendly price. This is the case with today’s product, the Corsair Harpoon RGB Gaming Mouse. Read on to see why this mouse stands out from and outright blows away any competition in its price range.
If your first reaction to the picture above was “Sweet, a new Lightning card!” we won’t fault you, even though there IS one of those out there too. FROZR fans on a GPU are nothing new to MSI, but slapping three of them on a card has mostly been the realm of their Lightning series cards, not the Gaming X class. MSI brings Nvidia’s Pascal based 1080Ti its Premium air cooling solution, all-metal back plate, VR friendly output configuration, Mystic Lighting, and perhaps the most important thing of all to anyone tired of red and black, a more neutral color scheme.
On November 2nd Nvidia released yet another SKU this time the GTX 1070 Ti and Asus sent us their ASUS Strix GeForce GTX 1070 Ti STRIX Advanced 8G GAMING 8GB (STRIX-GTX1070TI-A8G-GAMING) which is a 3 fan variant of the 1070 Ti. Now when Asus releases a Strix card you can believe they mean business and this beauty is filled with premium features. Starting with the Asus Strix Strix GTX 1070 Ti Advanced Gaming 8GB cores totaling 2432 a mere 128 shaders less than the mighty GTX 1080 performance will be similar to the GTX 1080 but perhaps a couple of FPS less, so by specifications the true differences between a GTX 1080 and a GTX 1070 Ti is the GTX 1070 gets GDDR5 and 2432 shaders while the GTX 1080 gets 2530 shaders and GDDR5X. Since most games and applications don’t saturate the current memory bandwidth performance differences should be minimal.
